So if you’re unsigned or independent, if you’re a solo artist or in a band, no matter what style of music you create, go to www.musicoz.org and upload your music now. Entries close August 31st.

Dynamic Data in Google Earth

Wednesday, April 23rd, 2008

do you know you can customise the google earth application, and send links to people that have satelitte views, and pop up bubbles.

From the google earth bloggers >>

Now that Google Earth 4.3 has launched, we’re pleased to be realizing our goal of Google Earth being a canvas upon which all sorts of interesting data can be visualized. Now we’re moving more and more towards supporting data that is dynamic; if we want Google Earth to model the real Earth, we need Google Earth to be different every time you open it up.

Usability 101

Tuesday, April 22nd, 2008

Usability is defined by five quality components:

  • Learnability: How easy is it for users to accomplish basic tasks the first time they encounter the design?
  • Efficiency: Once users have learned the design, how quickly can they perform tasks?
  • Memorability: When users return to the design after a period of not using it, how easily can they reestablish proficiency?
  • Errors: How many errors do users make, how severe are these errors, and how easily can they recover from the errors?
  • Satisfaction: How pleasant is it to use the design?

Get the real deal from Jacob Neilson >>

Usability is a quality attribute that assesses how easy user interfaces are to use. The word “usability” also refers to methods for improving ease-of-use during the design process.

Creative Art Therapies

Tuesday, May 15th, 2007

Dear Friends and Colleagues

You are warmly invited to attend our book launch at Readings Books in Lygon St Carlton on Thursday June 21st at 6:00pm – 8:00pm Come and share good wine and great food with us to celebrate the publication of

HEALING THE INNER CITY CHILD: CREATIVE ARTS THERAPIES WITH AT-RISK YOUTH – Jessica Kingsley Publishers

We have co-written a chapter in this fabulous new book and together with Dr Reina Michaelson are the only Australian authors in the publication.

Reina is currently in the Maldives working for UNICEF designing and implementing a child abuse prevention program, so Julie and Carla are hosting the launch. They will be introduced by Dr Tarquam McKenna who is immediate past President of Australian and New Zealand Art Therapy Association and editor of their international journal, ANZJAT. Tarquam is an arts psychotherapist. He has a commitment to the principles of arts as a way to enrich life and healing and is actively working in visual arts and drama as multi-modal psychotherapies. He is currently a Senior Lecturer at Victoria University, Melbourne.
As part of the presentation Julie and Carla will be briefly demonstrating creative arts therapy techniques used in the book chapter entitled,

“A Safe Distance: An intermodal approach to creating a country retreat for city girls who have been abused.”

The demonstrations serve to illustrate some of the approaches Julie and Carla chose for their therapeutic work with the girls and they will discuss what informed their choices and the results of action evaluation from the retreat.

We look forward to your company and ask if you would kindly RSVP by June 1st so we can arrange catering.

best wishes Julie and Carla
